OurStory

Walker Burger was built in 1982, and although a lot has changed since then, the spirit of what was originally created remains. Glen Rowley built Walker Burger with the vision of creating a peaceful place for weary travelers to stop and recharge. Glen and his wife, Betty, loved seeing guests explore the garden and enjoy delicious food. Betty especially loved seeing children's faces light up at the sight of a soft serve ice cream cone. Sadly, Betty passed away much too early - but mementos of Glen's love for Betty live on in all of Walker Burger's bird houses and in other hidden spots around the garden.

Avery and Teresa took over Walker Burger in 2000, and with it they brought their own special energy. Everyone remembers Avery's rambunctious personality and hard work ethic, but Teresa was the real deal working behind the scenes. They took Walker Burger to the next level, and they provided opportunities to many teenagers to learn what working and customer service were all about.

One of those teens was Sally - she started working at Walker Burger in 2002, but was one of those smiling kids who used to get ice cream cones from Betty. Sally loved working at Walker Burger so much that she dreamed of one day owning it - and after teaching at the university and working in the housing industry in Reno, she and her partner Robert took over Walker Burger in 2020. It is their goal to continue the tradition of providing a place to create memories and be a place that will make you smile.
